DOGS AND CATS

Hello Fellow Nisqually Meadows Residents,

We've recently noted increased incidents and complaints involving off-leash pets (both dogs and cats). While we appreciate our pets, we want our community to be safe and residents to walk freely alone or with their pets without fear of being approached or threatened by someone else's unleashed animal. Also, many residents work hard to keep their lawns and garden in good condition. Many loose dogs, even cats, use other residents' property as their bathrooms.

We would like to remind you that our community follows the Yelm Municipal Code and ACC Rules and Regulations regarding pet control.

YMC 6.08.050A No pet animal shall be off the premises and outside any vehicle of the owner or custodian of the pet animal and not under the control of a person by means of a leash.

ACC Rule 4.2 Animals/Pets Owners, when exercising or walking pets, shall restrict such activities to the common grounds (such as sidewalks, easements, and the Yelm-Tenino trail). The pet owner must immediately remove any solid waste left by the animal while on the common grounds or private/public property. Care should be taken to prevent pets from walking [and relieving themselves] on neighbors’ lawns. Animals shall be walked on a leash. The City of Yelm and Thurston County leash laws apply. Retention ponds are NOT pet play areas.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Together we can keep our community a place to enjoy safely with our animals and pets!
