Community Announcement

It has been brought to Nisqually Meadows HOA board’s attention that a homeowner in the community has been “pre-filling” ballot/proxy forms for this upcoming HOA meeting on 10/22/22, and requesting homeowners sign them.

A homeowner is able to vote by proxy by having another homeowner represent their voting interest for them, as long as you have signed and dated the form by you and you agree to have this person represent you at the annual meeting. A proxy vote is an excellent way to vote If you can’t attend the meeting and still wish to your vote heard within the community.

The complaints we have received state that an individual is incessantly contacting homeowners urging them to sign the “pre-filled” proxies, and not vote for any other homeowners running for the board other than them. Although we are not fully aware of what is being said by this individual, the board has reason to believe that they may be trying to manipulate homeowner’s voting to benefit themselves specifically. In the past this person has falsely represented themselves as a board member, along with other similar actions.

The HOA board would like to make it clear that you are not required to vote and the instructions are clear on each ballot that each homeowner is allowed to vote for “up to” 5 individuals listed on the ballot, if you choose to participate in voting. If you are being told otherwise you are being told something misleading. If you prefer this person to take ownership of your vote, as a homeowner, you have the right to vote by proxy and leave the ballot blank or fill out your votes and sign the form. Additionally, you can revoke your vote at any time by sending us a message that you would like to revoke your proxies/ballot to the HOA before Saturday 10/22/22 or join the meeting and vote in person. To be clear, if you have previously filled out a proxy form and attend the meeting this will render the proxy null and you will vote in person instead.

Pressuring or harassment of a homeowner concerning voting will NOT be tolerated from ANYONE. If you are experiencing this behavior, you have the right to tell them NO and demand that they cease all contact with you. If you feel this is something you cannot handle, or would like help with, you can always contact the HOA board or any board member directly, and the board will work with you to handle any issues. If this person is contacting you using any personal contact methods like personal email or by phone, you should be aware that this person should not have this personal information, unless you have provided this information to them directly, yourself. This person is not a board member, they do not have access to anyone’s personal information, and do not have approval of the HOA Board to be contacting you using these methods.

Feel free to reach out with any questions or comments pertaining to this topic or any other.

Thank You,
